Will JBL On Stage speakers charge the iPhone?

Can I use my JBL On Stage speakers (the old donut looking ones) to charge the iPhone? I've read about the issues of speaker interference, but if I just use it for charging is it going to "play nice" with my (forthcoming) iPhone?
