as my dad wants to build a pc with me in his next holidays I wonder whether or not it is possible to run OS X on it. i assume it would be best using a intel CPU. so is it possible to do this? should i pay attention to anything special?
thanks for any help.

In the most recent issue of MacLife magazine they had a small article on doing this. They tried it on a few different machines. They claim they were able to install it but that it wouldn't boot up in the end. They claim it was a driver issue of some sort.

It's not legal...
But a google search can lead to some interesting resources. (http://osx86.thefreesuite.com/)
