GarageBand With M-Audio Keyboard = STATIC

What needs to be done to fix the static problem I am having with this keyboard? Static does not occur when using just the built-in keyboard on my MacBook Pro. I'm am running Leopard 10.5.2 and GarageBand is currently up to date.

Please elaborate... Static as in noise? Or as in electricity?

If you are recording as a 'Real Instrument Track' it might be that you have the monitor on...

...Under where you choose your input source (i.e line-in/ built in mic etc) there is another box called 'Monitor', make sure it is set to off, or you'll end up with static or a high pitched screech.

Got the same setup and never had a problem.
I'd think a software issue as suggested above.

Do you have anything other than Garageband to test it with?
