Got refurb iphone w/ 1.1.1, should i update to 1.1.4 then jailbreak? HELP!

Hey, just recieved my iphone which is already activated (no att or tmobile, came activated from att) how should i do this?
Upgrade to 1.1.4? Itunes gives me the option to do a restore or to upgrade to 1.1.4? What do i do? I want to jailbreak ti after im done too!

That's what I would do.

1) restore to 1.1.4
2) download ziphone
3)open ziphone
4) click do it all
5) click start
6) enjoy

who process from restore to done is like 7 minutes max.

Yep what he said. I got an iPhone yesterday. Brand new. Came with 1.1.2 and I restored/upgraded to 1.1.4 then ran ZiPhone 2.6b and did it perfectly for me. It did put an icon on there for the ZiPhone blog but I just deleted that and running perfectly on fresh mobile.
 
Im in a similar situation. Got my refurb this morning and AFTER unlocking and jailbreaking with Ziphone realized it was on FW 1.1.3. Do I have to restore to upgrade to 1.1.4? Will it brick it if I upgrade without restoring?
 
hey. What I did was restore the iPhone on iTunes and it automatically upgraded to 1.1.4. Then I activated and jailbroke it but installer apps is sketchy not the program itself but some program don't work. The ones I wanted to work anyway.
 
sorry for my stupid question: how to restore the iphone and upgrade it from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4? thx
