Office 2003 for Windows

Office 2003 for windows is great everyone with a pc that can afford it should get it. It is a great upgrade from previous versions. It is faster and nicer looking than all others. Out look is significantly impoved.

That's very useful for Mac users to know.

The few reviews I've seen so far say it's a waste of money to upgrade from Office XP unless you are a corporation, in which case you'll have to upgrade eventually because everybody else will (typical Miccrosoft MO). What I keep wondering about Office is why do they have to put out an upgrade every 2 years? None of the features I use have changed at all in the last 10 years.

I agree with Horrortaxi, Office hasn't changed in 10 years- except it's gotten bigger & harder to use. And more expensive?

I was only trying to reley to the many pc users on this forum that the new office is out and better than ever. I think that many mac users will agree that a new pc release of office is usefull to them because many mac users use pc's also. Please dont turn this into a pc vs. mac debate. I was just pointing out that the many pc users here they should give this a look.

I confess I frequent apple related web sites because i am so envious of apple. I am anouncing to everyone now in the macrumors message board that I will switching all my personal computers at home to macs and i will tell everyone else to also.

MS releases an update for office on a regular pace to get money. Office is Microsofts #1 money maker. It makes more money than windows. Think about it. It cost about $300 and almost everyone has it, wether it be for windows or mac. office is MS' s cash cow. the more releases the more money they make. It is the same for apple. They do the same with osx, the more releases the more money they make.

I've given Office many looks, and I still don't like it. I liked it when I used it long ago on win3.1, but not anymore. The only pc application that's useful to me, is Virtual Pool :D

Trying to get me to use a pc by flashing m$ software in front of my face just won't do it, ace. Sorry.

I have no intention of getting anyone to use a pc, i use both. I dont get it people act like because i actually recomended something made by M$ that i want them to switch. This thread was started with the sole intent of telling the mac users that if they also use a pc on a regular basis that office 03 is better the rest of the office apps. What is so wrong with that.

True, but each Mac OS release has new features I use. It actually is a true upgrade and I don't feel bad about buying it. Each Office upgrade does include new and/or improved features. It's up to you or your company to perform a cost/benefit analysis to determine whether an upgrade makes sense. Office is the defacto standard for business suites and if/until Apple can produce a viable alternative, all Apple users should be happy Mac for OS X is available. I suspect a large chunk of Mac users, myself included, use a Mac [inpart] because Office is available. No man is an island. ;)

IMHO, getting down on your hands/knees is a form of fanaticism, especially as it relates to software worship. No need to go that far--quiet acknowledgement and the ability to explain your appreciation for MS software would be a better way to go. Let us know when you upgrade. :p

Cost/benefit analysis never said it was worthwhile to upgrade. New versions not getting along with old versions or new operating systems not getting along with old software help get you to upgrade. Running Windows 3.1 is no longer a viable option.
