Removing MP3 Error

Whenever I try to remove my MP3 player, I get a "this device has been removed incorrectly" error (or something similar).

How can I stop this? I've done right click --> eject, and I went to find and ejected it as well.

What IS the correct way to remove my MP3 player?

Drag it to Trash. Wait a few seconds after the icon leaves the Finder, then you should be fine.
