How to put Time Capsule icon on the desktop?

I just got my TC 500GB and its great, i dont find myself using time machine much since its just not for me. I do however want to use TC as a wireless hard drive, it is great but i cant seem to find a way to put the hard drive icon on my desktop. Right now i have to dig in a few folders to get a file from TC or to upload a file there.

Go to Finder preferences, choose the "general" tab and check the "connected server" box.

That should show the icon on your desktop whenever you're connected to time capsule.

There are so many "nooks and crannies" to the OS, I don't think anybody knows everything. I just learned this a few days ago for the same problem that you were having. Well... pass on the knowledge, I guess. :)

Your directions sadly sound like PC instructions (no offense, of course!) to me because when I go to finder, there is no 'general' or 'connected network.' There are no 'tabs' either. I only see
Personal: desktop, dock expose, international security, spotlight
Hardware: bluetooth, dvd, display, energy saver, etc.
Internet and Network:.mac, network,quicktime, sharing
System: users, startup disk, time machine, etc.
Other:
I, too, would like time capsule to appear on my desktop, but it isn't there and your directions I guess don't apply to my macbook pro. Any suggestions? Thanks!:confused:

You are in the System Preferences. You have to open a new Finder-window (by clicking the Finder icon in the dock), then press :apple: ","

I can't vouch for certain yet. But since the TC doesn't support this, I believe me doing that is the reason my MBA won't back up to it anymore. And this is even after a clean install of leopard and erasing the TC itself. :(

We're talking about the "Finder" on the menu bar on top (where the apple logo is). click preference and click the "general" tab and check connected server box and you're set.
