Never thought I would get a tat. This was my mid-life / divorce tattoo. Probably about the only thing I would get.
The original is by Walter Anderson, a fairly well-know artist. His great-grandson did the ink work.

Really nice, the detail looks amazing.
If you're in the LA area, I'd love to know the name of the artist and shop. Feel free to PM me of you don't want to post that here.....

I've been a member of this site since 2008 and I have never posted a message here. But I feel it is important to point out that I love this site. I've learned a lot. I've figured a lot out. And I've even come to appreciate my mac even more so because of this forum. I've just never been much poster. But I enjoy looking at pictures. Of other peoples computers, cars ect... and then I saw this thread!!!! So here are some of my tattoos! :D
Curious.. how many hours and how much $$ did you spend? If you don't mind me asking.

Uhhh I believe it was around 24 hours total. And cost about $4500. I don't remember that actual time or amount spent but those numbers are pretty close.

Outer right arm

from a lovely artist I found on myspace
Inner right arm

A slightly modified Mark Ryden piece
Obviously cleaner now, with no red pen or washy ink on my arm.
Both are finished as is. I have room for one more around the back of my arm, and am thinking of something from the artists Miso and Ghospatrol

I have one large one on the front of my right leg that doesn't really look like what it is supposed to. I made the mistake of going with a slightly cheaper who actually reproduced a fantastic Geiger piece on my friend. I guess I should have inspected his portfolio of "original" pieces...

first one is mine. i have both arms but the other i need a cover up. its a jail tat im not too proud of with a red AB (only way i got the tats at all). for anyone who knows what that is, thats why i didnt post it. the 2nd and 3rd are ideas for the lower left arm i plan on getting as soon as i get back from my deployment. i do have letters on both lower forearms and i will post pics asap but they read "fear is temporary" on my right arm and "regret is forever" on my left. wrist to elbow.

He didn't say it was to stay alive, he basically said if he didn't let them tattoo AB then he wouldn't be able to get ANY tattoos at all. He could have just not gotten tattoos.

Idk dude, never been to prison. All i know is that not every white guy who goes to prison comes out with hate group tattoos. Anyway though, as long as those aren't your idealogical beliefs anymore it really doesn't matter, you just gotta get that s*** covered up. Most tattoo artists would be thrilled to cover that up for you. How does that work with the army? Do you just have to make sure it's never exposed?

That's the most important part. The swastika gotta go though, by the looks of it it would be very easy to cover up and luckily it's very high up on your arm.

i had a friend that was sentenced to prison for 15 years and he told me that when your new you do what they say and whatever gang chooses you, you better learn to live with it. he was japanese and the yakuza portion got him. he was relieved that he was with his own kind in a way. about a year later he was all tatted up from doing things he was told to do (killed 3) his fourth one i guess he said no and didn't make it and had his throat slit and stabbed 14 times, from his own kind.

Here's some of mine. Bear with me as I am a bad photographer in general and having to take pics of yourself isn't helping my cause.
Images left to right starting at the top left:
1) Couple of my fav piercings-Industrial, Daith (have on other side too...really unusual piercing type), and normal lobe. I have an Orbital that the Industrial goes through but I don't wear it much as taking it off and getting it in is a PITA and I take these things out 5 days a week
2) Aztec (supposedly) predatory fish
3) The White Rabbit in color
4) Griffin-my first tat and still my largest
5) Griffin shot 2
I love your piercings. ;)

Here is an in-depth explanation of what every part of the symbol means copied from a website:
The OM symbol is made up of three Sanskrit syllables - 'aa', 'au', and 'ma'. First came the sound and from it everything in creation. Believed to be the source of all manifest existence, the sound of OM is the sound of the infinite. Referred to as prana, or the breath of life, OM pervades all of existence. In meditation, the intonation of the sound creates a vibration in tune with the very oscillation of the cosmos. When intoned correctly, harmony and bliss resonate in the body, reaching the centre of one's being - the atman or soul.
The sign itself is made up of three curves, one semi-circle and a dot. The three curves represent the states of ordinary human consciousness and all physical phenomena. The large lower curve signifies the ordinary waking self looking outwards - the upper curve signifies deep dreamless sleep - and the middle curve is the middle ground of looking inwards and being enthralled by inner dreams. Between the dot and the three curves lies the semi-circle signifying maya - illusion. The dot itself is the symbol of the highest state of consciousness, unaffected by maya, and in which all sense of separateness falls away.

Just a warning to those photographing their tattoos. There is a very strong causal connection between iPhones, tattoos and getting published on Hunter Moore's web site.

Figured I'd finally get around to submitting to this thread. I've been getting work done around 5 years now, slowly working towards a full body suit I guess, though I do intend to save some skin to get tattooed during my travels around the world. All black and grey work by various Australian tattoo artists. I don't really have any decent shots of my sleeves unfortunately, and was limited to 5 attachments so many missed the cut :P

My very first tattoo, I got it almost ten years ago and it's the only one I almost regret. I don't really regret things, but that tattoo is both badly done, inaccurate (my name is only Starfighter now, not Robin) and is placed in the middle of my lower arm. It's in the way for bigger things! :)
