Strange automatic Spaces shifting

I have X11 and OpenOffice.org 2.3 (which runs through X11) set to open in Space 3. For some reason, when I change to Space 1 (Mail and Safari), it tends to automatically jump back to Space 3. Why is this? Is it Spaces or X11?
