Actually, this was well worth the $7.99 from iTunes. Considering I was going to donate something anyway to the cause, I got some great music, too. What was interesting is that this was put together very quickly, and yet it works very well on many levels. 'Live' recordings with no cheering audiences... classic one take stuff. Some nice covers done here. Understandably, it's a bit melancholy at times... but considering the human tragedy obviously on the minds of all the artists...that's part of the theme here. Highly recommended.

Yeah, Spawn is awesome and Disgorge is completely unmatched in terms of brutality, IMO.
If you dig that SoP disc, check out their follow-up, Noctambulant. Way more tech-y, but I think it's the better of the two. And Disgorge's entire catalogue is more than worth checking out (they've got three other albums).

Somebody had to fill the void that Madrugada's split left. Why not the singer of that band himself? This is a fine album, really. Not as dark as most of Madrugada's work, but still very moody. And that voice, right? Awesome.

Alright, I figured that if I want to get some people posting in here, I might as well post some decent topics. So, I'll start with this one...
For me, I'm never able to buy just one CD at a time. I usually go to used record stores, where I'll spend 40-50 bucks and pick up 4-6 CDs. Anyways, at my last such trip to a used record store, I bought:
Montrose - self titled (Sammy Hagar before Van Halen. This stuff, having came out in '73, could be considered as "pre-metal", aka heavy blues-based rock...)
Isis - The Red Sea (Cool stuff. Impossible to find in any new record store around here, seeing how we don't have any metal specialty shops. I consider myself lucky to have found it in a store in the first place...)
Minion - Shattered Confidence (Local stoner rock band that hasn't been heard from in a while. This EP came out in 2001 or 2002 I think...)
The Very Best Of Testament (A good buy for 10 bucks!)

I recently got obsessed with Buckethead and went out and bought;
Electric Tears
Elephant Man's Alarm Clock
Monsters & Robots
Shadows Between the Sky.
If anyone has never heard him I strongly suggest giving him a listen. I would have to say he is the greatest guitar player of all time. He has a massive library of work so there is something for everyone out there. He also plays in multiple bands with his main one being Praxis. As soon as my next paycheck comes I will be buying several more of his albums.

I listened to 'em ever since I was in middle school, so I've been pretty eager to buy all their albums. I like the album, but a lot of people don't cause of this and that. The new sound is weird and takes a while to get used to, but it's not terrible. Minutes to Midnight, in my opinion, was worse (but there were still areas of good in there)

Sprung for the deluxe edition of Kid Cudi's new CD that came out last week. I have to say, it is an amazingly put together album and I'm glad I got the deluxe that came with the 19 minute "dvd." The video is set to his music with a few different performances of his and it's absolutely great. Not to mention, you will see his love for Apple devices in it.
I've been a fan since his underground stuff, before he hit it big after having "Day and Night" featured on Entourage. I think this trumps his early stuff. Very well developed album. Three great songs to buy if you don't want to go all out and get the album, "Mojo So Dope," "Mr. Rager," and "Marijuana."
"Erase Me" is also a great song, and the music video includes the guy from "Sex Drive" and McLovin in it, great video. Not to mention, the song features Kanye West dropping some very nice rhymes.
*Warning, you will want to smoke weed while listening, as that's pretty much all he does through the DVD and his songs include references to this*
