This may have been answered before, but I have searched and searched, and I can't find the right set of circumstances.

I have two Macs, a Mac Air, and a Mac Pro. They both connect, one via WiFi, and one via ethernet, to a Time Capsule, which in turn is also connected to a NAS via ethernet. On the NAS I have a number of shares, all using the CIFS protocol. I need CIFS because I also have a few Vista machines, all connecting via WiFi, that also need access to the shares.

If I just re-boot the Air or the Pro, the first time I open the finder, of course I see the NAS under Shared, and I can click on the icon for the NAS, and most of the time I will mount the NAS, connect as Guest, and be able to access the shares. However, sometimes, especially if it has been a while, I get the dreadful "Connection failed" message. And, there seems to be no specific situation which prompts this.

This is most irritating when I am using iTunes. I have all my MP3s on the NAS, and half the time, I get errors in iTunes. When it is working it is great, but when it doesn't it is c...
