mouse won't work after computer awakes form sleep

i have a 24in imac (10.5.2) and just 2 days ago this started happening. i'll put the computer to sleep and i wake it up the mouse is frozen and i have to do a hard reboot. any one else having this problem or any ideas as to why this is happening??
