Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my ram by adding two 4gb ram modules to the stock two 1gb modules. I would put the two 4gb modules in the top riser and the two 1gb in the bottom riser.
Is this an acceptable configuration? I typically seem to see ram for the Mac Pro being bought in two sets of 2 so I'm curious if it's ok.

Thanks.

Don't know about the config you're gonna do, but 2 x 1GB + 4 x 4GB seems to be ok for me. BTW I did 4:4:1:1 for top and 4:4:0:0 for bottom riser.

Wow, that's a lot of RAM for just "surfing the internet and checking email"! (I saw your other post!)

You want each riser to be outfitted the same way.

4 + 1 on each.

Thanks for responding. I think I'm going to place the order today. I was just a little worried that not having matching pairs would cause adverse affects to the machine.

hmmmmm........is that right? I thought that we're supposed to keep pairs of RAM in each riser and that only the stock configuration split the RAM up like that.
