So today I was on Youtube and I was bored out of my mind. As I was going through a few pages I saw a thumbnail of an iMac (HOLY EFF YES) and decided to click onit, little did I know I was about to loose all faith in humanity.

This video is posted by the one hit wonder whose song has plagued our ears for the past few months. Sadly his music (a.k.a crap) will most likely be used to define our generation. (Go kill yourself so you don't have to tell your kids about it)

This video starts off with him swearing at "haters" who talk crap about his videos (jeeze I wonder why).

Later on in this pointless video he shows his new 24" iMac. and ....Well I dont want to ruin it for you. Goto the Video and start watching from around 1:55.

If your brave you'll watch the rest of the utter crap.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=cIi4PDaku_o
(Beware, full of mind numbing, IQ killing content and lots of course language.)

This is another one of his videos.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hTXNnGZrsRM

Please god, help us, only YOUUUUU......EFF. You get the point.

Post your thoughts.

Really, now. I'm just not convinced that that's actually a song. It must be something from South Park or something. It must be.

I have a strange suspicion that Sol"jah" boy is a one hit wonder.

However, I made the same prediction about Rihanna. Hmm...at least you can understand her when she speaks.

Where I'm from, you bound to get laughed at doing any dance solja boy does. He just gets people to look like plain idiots, but its quite humorous to watch sometimes.

Still, I dont get how half these "rappers" get anywhere.

I wasn't completely aware of who he was either. It did remind me why I don't listen to Rap, though. Time to go throw on some real music.

Get a clue. These kind of blanket statements just exemplify ignorance and close-mindedness. There are bad artists in whatever genre's you like, don't characterize an entire genre based on a few "artists" within it.

You guys are right. There are good Rap artists out there, it's just that you see more of the bad ones. Also, it's just not my cup of tea. It was late at night, so my apologies.

Souljah Boy is mindless music. Good Rap and Hip-Hop usually tells a story or actaully says somethings. His crap you can't even understand as he mashes all the words together.

Um, I really don't like people who are talking all that crap about all those rappers. Well, what if you put yourself in their shoes, what would you choose?

Do crap a$$ music that sells millions on itunes, gets on #1 spot for 30 weeks straight, get all the money in the world with tons of groupies, or go to a school and to get a job and work your a$$ off till death?

ANYONE, and I say ANYONE would do what he did, no matter how retarded his music is, you would choose that over school, I mean that dude just has some fun, why can't he? It's a message to 'dem haterz', wouldn't you do the same if you had millions of haters?

All you can do is that trash him all day, but it doesn't matter because either you like him, or hate him it makes him more popular and he gets more dough than you'll ever see.

All I can say is good job & well done to whoever manages to hit mainstream. If you don't like his music find another rapper, it's not like he's the only one who you can listen to.

Just my 2 cents.

Good job for being presumptuous. I'm a musician, and I would take knowing something about music and getting nowhere famous over putting out three note songs that make more money than they're worth any day. I'm also a big proponent of low-priced and free music, so, good going grouping real musicians in with kids with a bit of luck.

And no, I can trash talk him for about a minute or so (the length of time it takes me to write a post like this), and then spend the rest of my time doing something more meaningful, like practicing my instruments, or composing.

Congratulations to him for hitting the mainstream as well, and it's a good thing we have him using da english in da house to superman dem hataz 'til dey die up in dey crib, dawg, or else, I don't know what the world would do.

Agreed, and I hate to say it but I believe race is an issue for some of "the haters" as well.

You don't hear people saying that The Beatles (for instance) have "mindless lyrics", but look at them; they seem pretty repetitive and simplistic to me:

Oh yeh, I'll tell you something,
I think you'll understand,
Then I'll say that something,
I wanna hold your hand,
I wanna hold your hand,
I wanna hold your hand.
Oh please say to me
You'll let me be your man,
And please say to me,
You'll let me hold your hand,
Now let me hold your hand,
I wanna hold your hand.
And when I touch you
I feel happy inside,
It's such a feeling
That my love I can't hide,
I can't hide, I can't hide.
Yeh, you got that something,
I think you'll understand,
When I feel that something,
I wanna hold your hand,
I wanna hold your hand,
I wanna hold your hand.
And when I touch you
I feel happy inside,
It's such a feeling
That my love I can't hide,
I can't hide, I can't hide.
Yeh, you got that something,
I think you'll understand,
When I feel that something,
I wanna hold your hand,
I wanna hold your hand,
I wanna hold your hand.

What would that accomplish? If he dies, he's Tupac. If he lives, he's 50 Cent.

Not really. Tupac actually had some degree of talent and tried to accomplish something with his music. And most people have forgotten about 'Fitty' after his last album release (which apparently was awful), as they undoubtedly will about Souljah Boy in the coming months.

Also, x2 edesignuk's statement.

I really hate to see people bring music into this conversation.

First of all, this is a question of economics. Music, for the sake of making beautiful aural experiences that touch the mind and soul, is largely subordinate today to whatever happens to be marketable. Record companies = marketing behemoths, just think about MTV etc. I won't belabor my argument. Suffice it to say, I am not bothered by this "Souljah Boy" or whomever he may be. Fact is, I don't buy those *products* and therefore I am not really a *fan* of whatever *product* may be in circulation.

Sure, Beethoven made money doing what he did. However, the transmutation of musical talent into a marketable vehicle for corporations is a largely modern phenomenon. Honestly (and so begins my opinion), I am displeased by it. I show my displeasure by not purchasing the *products* because I don't care for them. Supposing 90% of people did the same, "Souljah Boy" would be the next New Coke. Unfortunately, marketing is often driven by the lowest common denominators, which of course my Apple brethren, largely explains why the world chooses (?) to use PCs over Macs.

These conversations continually amuse me. Some people like rap, that's fine, so do I in some cases. But *products* such as what "Souljah Boy" is peddling really are more on the line of marketing campaigns than any sort of artistic expression. Artists don't need a vehicle to convey the products of their genius. Think about it.

I could broaden the kritik to extend to MOST modern sound *products*, but I care not for a divergence from my lunch that takes longer than five minutes.

Cheers!
