Now gamers can play the games they want, on whatever platform they want! With CrossOver Games, you can run many popular Windows games on your Intel OS X Mac or Linux PC. Whatever your tastes — first-person shooters, fantasy, strategy, MMORPGs — CrossOver Games provides the capability to run many popular games titles. CrossOver comes with an easy to use, single click interface, which makes installing your games simple and fast. Once installed, your game integrates seamlessly into your Desktop. Just click and run! Best of all, you do it all easily and affordably, without needing a Microsoft operating system license.
CrossOver Games is built on the latest versions of Wine, based on contributions from both CodeWeavers and the open-source Wine community, and then lovingly hand-crafted by Stefan Dösinger, our very own Wine/Games connoisseur. Unlike other CrossOver products, which are aimed primarily at office productivity applications (and hence maximum stability), CrossOver Games aims to bring you the latest, greatest, bleeding edge improvements in Wine technology. This means that the newest games run faster and better under CrossOver than under other versions of CrossOver, or other version of free Wine, for that matter. You want to run your Mom's knitting software? Maybe you should look elsewhere. On the other hand, if you need better framerates on Linux or Mac so you can frag your buddies: check out CrossOver Games!

Sweet! Wonder if this is their response to all the unofficial pirated games released on bittorrent... now to see how The Orange Box runs...
Edit: Oops, I was thinking of Cyder... Played around with Crossover Games, and Half Life 2 runs amazingly well, but Ep 2 won't launch. Guess I'll still have to reinstall XP :(

That's the only reason for running windows, in my honest opinion. :D

Awesome. Downloading this and giving it a go with a few of my games. If this is all it's cracked up to be, I'll definitely give them my money.

So, I installed it and here;s my little review of KOTOR 2 in CrossOver Games 7.0:
I inserted the game DVD and chosen "Easy install", the game began installing immidietly. The installer was in Russian and the text showed as strange characters, but I figured my way through it :). I click Install and the installation process starts.
When it was finished I was given an option by the Autorun to run the game, but CrossOver was still thinking the game was installing so I pressed "Force installation completion" button.
I launched the game and the first issue appeared - the cursor was invisible unless I pressed the mouse button, but at least it worked ;). Also during the playback of pre-rendered movies the letterbox was white instead of black. Other than that the game is fine :D
EDIT: in previous versions of CrossOver the game was unplayable due to the mouse cursor not moving at all.

I assume this means steam work fine?? So is bootcamping it not even worth it anymore?

first time i tried TF2 it froze up while i was resetting the screen resolution, second time i loaded it up, it loaded up with the changed screen resolution, but froze up as soon as i got in the game when i was choosing my class. Anyone else have troubles like these that they found fixes too? I am downloading TrackMania Nations right now to see if it will run. Anyone else not getting shift+tab to work inside of steam games?? Doesn't work for me.
Exciting that Crossover is making a Gaming specific version of their software though.:apple:

I already get all the Source-games in Steam to work on CrossOver 6.2.1
So for those who had that version earlier...
... how's the performance boost? If there is any?

You mean Cmd-tab?
No, in Steam games you can hit the keys shift+tab, to bring up the steam community while you are playing, so you can talk to friends, or join a game a friend is in very easily, but when using crossover nothing happens when i hit the key combo.
Cmd+tab works fine as long as you run the game in windowed mode, which I never used to do, but I am finding it is nice to be able to pause a game and do something else without having to quit and lose progress.:apple:

Team Fortress 2 runs perfectly windowed on lower settings. :D The only problem is the track pad doesn't work well with fps games.
I'm not sure about other steam games though.

I'm giving it a try right now. I successfully got F.E.A.R. and Phantasy Star Universe to install, but no luck getting either to run.
I couldn't get F.E.A.R. to recognize that the DVD was in the drive, so I tried a nocd patch. It now goes through the opening logo cinematics, but crashes when it gets to the point that it would load the title screen.
Phantasy Star Universe shows the opening menu to choose online or offline mode, but crashes when either is chosen and the nProtect GameGuard Engine should start downloading patches.
I'll be trying out TESIV: Oblivion and EverQuest later, and some older games such as Fallout and American McGee's Alice.
I'm glad that Guild Wars is now officially supported. I tried it with Crossover Mac and it worked with few issues. I'll give it a try later as well.

Dark Messiah: Might and Magic works. Garry's mod works but is very buggy. World in Conflict does not work (go figure). Guild Wars works as advertised, but that doesn't change the fact that it isn't very fun. :)

Steam loads OK I select the game, it starts I select a server, it load till 90% or so and that is all, It just sits there and hangs the machine up. Suppose it is a beta though.

It's not exactly expensive, so I just went ahead and bought it yesterday. HL2 EP1 plays very well, I'm very happy. So far I think only the ones mentioned in the list work, but I'm optimistic that this will expand quite quickly.
This is what I was waiting for - I can't be arsked to reboot into Bootcamp to run a game when I have umpht-million windows open in Spaces.

I was kinda wondering how the "boost" was since Team Fortress 2 already works on Crossover 6.2.1 ;)
All HL2 games, Prey, Hitman 2 etc works on the earlier Crossover, so I'm wondering if it's worth getting "Crossover Games" for the new possible boost.
Even HL2 mods like "Pirates, Vikings & Knights", DRIPRIP and Goldeneye: Source works very nice on Crossover 6.2.1.

I've tried a few games with it, Call of Duty 2 installed but then refused to run (the icon would just sit there in the dock doing nothing), Titan Quest couldn't complete installation (the moment it began installing it asked for the CD to be in the drive ) and now I'm installing UT3, I'll let you know how that turns out.
The interface is extremely easy to use though so that's a big plus, definitely not a replacement for bootcamp just yet, even if UT3 installs I don't expect performance to be stellar but it might work out well for those Windows-haters :)
EDIT: Well Unreal Tournament 3 didn't work, the installer finished, and then the game just wouldn't boot up no matter what I did. Also, the installer doesn't seem to support multi-disc installations which just seems dumb to me as well, I tried to install Dungeon Siege II but I couldn't eject disc one to insert disc two, I ended up forcing the CD out with Toast Titanium but the installer messed up afterwards.
To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed with the software, not everyone likes to play Orange Box which seems to be the only friggin game that is supported and works, well not that it matters much to me, I don't mind using Bootcamp and I do have a Windows PC anyways.

To add to what's been said, TF2 works pretty well for me (2.4GHz imac, 1GB RAM) with the reccomended settings, which aren't as high as I can get on windows on the same machine. Upping them has caused a few crashes, so I switched them back down. The lack of shift-tab to chat to people is annoying, especially when people don't realise why and keep trying to talk to me.
I also took the chance to grab Prey off Steam for £3 this weekend, and that seems to work fine with lots of things set to 'high'.
I'm going to install some more Orange Box stuff and see how it works before I buy, I'm still not sure how much it's worth to avoid rebooting...

i'd still use bootcamp. Most games won't work and i bet you get higher fps in bootcamp

I think the biggest issue is currently the one with the copy protection schemes that are not supported, which is why the games keep requesting for the cd to be in the drive while it is already in it.
My guess is that it will take some time, but that the games range will continue to expand every month or so.

I wouldn't put to much stock in crossover... I bought there software when it first came out a year ago. They had Outlook 2003 almost working but not quite usable. I figured I would donate to the cause and buy the software as its idea is very cool. A year later they still dont have Outlook 2003 working and all I have received in the past 2 weeks is an email asking me to buy Crossover games(obviously where there attention is focused). I thought games was part of what original crossover was supposed to do in the first place??? Now I just got another email today asking me to renew my subscription for crossover...(59.95) I appreciate there effort for more money but all I need them to do is make it so it run Microsoft Outlook 2003. I just went to there website and they have 13 programs that are Gold compatible(which means they actually work). I know they say they have made progress but I haven't seen any in the Office 2003 programs. I think they have lost there opportunity to do something special with Crossover. By the time they get anything working the software will be obsolete.:(

was going to ask if you are using a radeon graphics card, but then I read your signature :) I've got the same "bug" that the game freezes as soon as I choose class. Got it playing one time for about 20 seconds and this is since I switched up to my Mac Pro (early 2k8 version with 8800-card). The really sad thing is that the game works on my >2 year old MBPro, but it would be soooo much sweeter if I could play on the MPro instead... anyone has solved this?
