I,m new here...and I have a question....what would be the best CD/DVD/RW external burner to buy for my G4...

please i need that answer real quick before 12h !!!!

Based on the reviews, the best ones are:

Pioneer A06 based
Plextor 708A based
Sony (DRX510UL )

Plextor and Pioneer are available from number of makers (LaCie uses Pioneer I think). All of them are multiformat (-RW, +RW).
Or you can buy Firewire/USB2 external exclosure and buy internal drive to put it in.
Check LaCie prices at compusmart.com (~400 CAD).

Plextor 8X DVD burner. Both exterbal and internal models available. Street price (from www.pricegrabber.com) around $250. So far all those that have bought one are very happy with theirs, i.e. no coasters :)

Sony also have one for around the same price, and I'm sure that Pioneer will jump on the 8X DVD wagon shortly too.
