Hey all,

This keeps coming up on every application! What is it - can I disable it.

Thanks

Looks like you locked your keychain. Open up Keychain Utility (/Applications/Utilities) and then unlock it (click the padlock in the lower corner so it's open, you'll need to enter your user password).

I went to finder, then to Applications, then to Utilities, then to KeyChain Access, but then this is coming up

Am I doing it wrong?

Type in your password, so you then have access to the keychain options, THEN click the little padlock in the lower corner to unlock it, it'll probably ask for your password again :)

It's your user password, unless you set a different one.

What is keychain

You don't seem to know much about it, so that seems to suggest that it might be someone else's MB. Come CLEAN MISTER!

Give him a break. I had a terrible time with this keychain stuff myself only a month ago. Took me an hour or more to fix, because I couldn't even figure out what password it took. Turns out it wanted the Admin password.

A lot of us mac users don't know Unix or how to use terminal. I still don't understand how keychain works.

I sent him a PM but haven't heard back. He's a youngster with a fairly new MB, so that would probably explain it. I was getting ready to tell him how to reset the password, but he never logged back on the Forum. :o

Unbelievably rude post.

YOU need to Start your messages in the message box, NOT the title, and lighten up.

when it is asking for your password, that means the Admin locked it so there could not be any changes done. Only way to make changes of course would be to hit that pad lock icon and it will try to unlock but you got to have the correct password typed in then it will let you make any changes, leave it unlocked, etc. It's just there as an option to put it on lockdown so no changes can be made and it is safe. Now unless you don't want that and would rather leave it unlocked and open then go ahead and do so.

That's what I had hoped, but I've apologized to the OP and I'm waiting to hear back from the Pope! LOL
