ok i,m goin to get one , though they are around 300$ more expensive here than the online store , soo i dont want to go wrong or anything with this ,

just woundering if there is any updates coming for the acd,s any time soon before i get one.
 
everyone is hoping for an update and they haven't updated in a while

there are other threads on this im pretty sure
 
the panels ( the important bit) are updated now and again to keep them up to date, just got mine and extremely happy, obviously don't buy it if you want hdmi or display port for anything but also bare in mind they are not used in any macs. (dont ecpect cameras in these as im sure someone will say hold out for it on here)
 
I've been thinking about one for a while now, but am going to wait for an update before I buy anything. It's gotta happen sometime "soon", don't it?! 😕😱
 
I have the exact Dell monitor you're thinking about. The ACD's have a 16ms response time, compared to the Dell's 5ms. While the ACD may display color more accurately for designers, the Dell is perfect for all around use. I use it to game, watch movies, work on documents, edit photos and movies, and just surf the internet. It came with no dead pixels and shipped promptly. The Dell is a fantastic deal. For an inch less, you'd be paying twice as much for the ACD. It just doesn't seem worth it to me.

I don't know much about monitors, but doing a quick search told me that apart from the 14ms to 5ms difference, the ACD's contrast ratio is 700:1 vs DELL's 1000:1 and even 3000:1 for the UltraSharp. How can the ACD still be better when it comes to images and colors?

You have to remember that these specifications are subjective to each manufacturers independently determined tests. So for example, if Samsung has an easier test they can achieve a higher contrast ratio and a lower response time.

The best way to determine if one monitor brand is more 'worth it' is by seeing these monitors in person or listen to what people have to say about them on the forums. Dell and Apple both make great monitors so you really can't go wrong either way.
