Quick way to empty a TON of files in trash?

Hi guys.

I'm trying to delete some old time machine backups but of course there are absolutely tons of files. Emptying trash appears to take forever. Is there any quicker way of deleting all those file?

Why do you want to delete old backups manually? Time Machine will do that itself by the time the partition is full.
Or is there an other reason?
