How can I tell if my Macbook has a Seagate HD? I've tried looking in 'About this Mac' and couldn't see it there so where else can I look?

I just put this string into google and it brings up more details about the drive, this is a seagate.

Click on the Apple Menu; click on About This Mac; click on More Info...; and you can click on Serial - ATA and it should list it there; mine says Hitachi.

109855If the string starts ST then it's a Seagate as in Seagate Technology.

What's wrong with a Seagate, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks STeve! LOL :pNo worries - just thought I would point out the obvious as it isn't always obvious to everyone . . . so my wife keeps telling me anyway :)

I'm guessing it has to do with the seagate problem (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=393117) and with picture (http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/10/macbook-seagate.html). i'm guessing this was sorted a long time ago.

I assume so but we don't when the OP bought their macbook so perhaps they could be affected/have an affect drive.
