Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro, about a year and a half old. Everything has been great except recently my laptop will immediatly shut off when the battery hits 85% or so. (about 15-20 minutes). I'd rather not go up to the mac store or buy a new battery. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I had the same problem with 2 batteries on my first MBP, before it was replaced for a different issue. The battery on your MBP needs to be replaced, call AppleCare and they should be able to send you a new one.

yeah i'll probably end up calling apple. does this look normal for the battery?

youve lost 6% of your battery capacity after 72 cycles which looks fine.

Apple states here

A properly maintained Apple notebook battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 300 full charge and discharge cycles

so your stats look fine atm but if its shutting off your computer after 15% i would say you have a battery problem.

explain your problem to Apple support and quote the battery stats. make sure you also quote the statement from Apple above too.
