Energy Saver Preferences?

I always thought that the Energy Saver Preferences altered the processor performance.


However, while playing with it on my MBP Peryn, it only appears to alter display characteristics and Sleep times. Is this true? Or, if I select Better Engergy Savings, will it downclock the processor (For a cooler running book?)

No it doesn't configured performance. Everything on the computer is very automated. No user intervention is needed. On the act of unplugging the computer in sets the multipliers to default. Otherwise on battery it drops to the battery settings, unless the computer senses that something needs full power.
