make and gcc

I only need make and gcc. Is there a way to install these and not all the other 'stuff?'

Not sure what you mean by the "other stuff."

I am a Linux/Unix/ObjC newbie but I think you can just select the packages you wish to install (in Linux) using whatever package manager your distro has.

If you're talking about OS X, I dunno. Maybe the other guys can help you. I would think you'd get the full monte with the SDK/Xcode installer.
