once you're done with the delete, restart, see if it fixes the issue
Have you been doing a lot of stuff recent? Have you not restarted in a while? Did it just start like this when you started the secure delete?
Are you in a hot area, and can you MB "breath"

I'm pretty sure these can't be real. The cores would have shut down and you wouldn't be able to touch your MB!! Restart should do the trick.

96C. That's hot but mines been that hot a few times. As long as it's only a momentary spike it shouldn't hurt anything.
Make sure your back vents aren't obstructed for airflow. Secure delete, check permissions and Handbrake always get mine hot quick and it can take a while for the fans to dissipate the heat since it does get hot so fast.

i don't care if you think it is not real. it was.
anyways, it sat at "399 item to delete" and my macbook was sitting on a cooling pad with a fan, i had turned it on this morning, i decided to hard restart, im gonna try a secure dump later tonight when im not needing my computer.

It should shut off long before the CPU would melt.

You're scared? I just watched this (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0440803/)! Alone! At night!
You'll be okay. As others have said,
the cores would wind down
if the temps became
too much.

either it will wind down, or burst into flames, burning down your house and all your stuff :D

Try secure deleting smaller quantities in succession instead of massive amounts at one time. It may be that the 399th file was a 6GB vid. even though it would have eventually completed the task, it can take quite a while.
