Sony dsc-w50 video on camera??

Im trying to import a video on this camera,it puts the video in iphoto as a mpg.It will play on quickplayer but i want to import to imovie but it says it cant read files? what am i doing wrong??Could someone explain from start on whole process .Thanks i appreciate any help

Imovie can't edit mpeg files. You need to convert it to dv.
Use this to do it.
