Will this work to power a MacBook while riding in a car?

Can this inexpensive little device (from dealextreme.com) be used to power and/or charge a MacBook through the MacBook's USB port while riding in a car?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but one does not charge laptops using USB connectors. Devices like the one you linked to are used to charge smaller devices like cell phones and iPod-like mp3 players. So no, I don't think so.

That'd be cool, but it won't work. Computers only release power using USB, they can't charge via USB. :(

i believe the power inverter will do the trick. Make sure it has a fuse.

it seems silly to invert the car's power (go from DC to AC power) then plug in your power adaptor that does just the opposite (go from AC to DC power).
but although it is not the best way it does look like is is the cheapest and one of the few possibilities that you have.
