Deleting Files and Saving Space

I am hoping to slim down my hard drive and move unnecessary files to an external hd. Is there a good way to locate large files and move them over? Some free program maybe to help manage space? Or are there certain files that you prefer on a external, like music/itunes maybe?

that looks like a great program but its 13 bucks are there any free ware????share ware lolll i might buy it any ways
