Okay, I was surprised not to find a thread like this when I searched, but here we go. Basically, if you are a fan of this type of music, post your favorite Artists, Songs, Albums, etc. and discuss your thoughts of this genre.

I've been into a lot of different artists lately, but one that definitely sticks out is Tiesto (or DJ Tiesto, whatever). If you have not heard of him, definitely check out his work. I love Adagio for Strings, Elements of Life, Carpe Noctum, to name a few. Others worth checking out: David Guetta vs the Egg, DJ Mystic, Paul Oakenfold (This is Trance, Ready Steady Go all great songs by him) etc.

At 34, I'm probably a bit older than most here and I haven't followed that scene (such as it was) in earnest since the mid-90s, but I really used to be into Detroit techno like Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills Jeff Mills Detroit EMF 2007 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_MUW1LRpyo).

Matthew Dear aka False, aka Audion

Matthew Dear is the most amazing artist in this catagory. I have yet to see him live. Although i've had many opportunities. He comes to NYC often. Soon i will see him.

Markus Schulz- 'without you near' , and 'never be the same again' - are my current faves by him
Agnelli and Nelson - 'Wear that dress' is my current fave

Tiesto is awesome , been to three of his shows.

JunkieXL has some good stuff.

Gabriel and Dresden aka Motorcycle are one of my favorite remixers.

Ok I am going to stop now, guess not that hard to figure out my favorite genre:D

Just about anything by Basshunter sends me into bliss. You might've heard his anglicized song, Now You're Gone sung by DJ Alex, but the original Swedish version of the song, Boten Anna, is much better. I'd recommend previewing his songs on iTunes:

I'm not a big fan of Tiesto. Just not my style of electronic music. I respect him as an artist though because he is at the top of his genre. If I decide to go to Bonnaroo this year I'll go listen but other than that I won't go out of my way.

This past week I saw Sasha & Digweed and Junkie XL. Both very good acts. I'm a big fan of Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Hallucinogen, Shpongle and many many others. I like a lot but Tiesto sure isn't one :)

This website is a great reference for really separating your categories of electronic music.

My taste is mainstream when it comes to this style of music: Armin Van Buuren.

I also picked up a Julian Marsh CD Trance To Heaven - which was my first entry into Trance/Dance/Techno stuff. I love that album.

i'm a huge fan of dance music. i lean more towards clubish, non-vocal, popish type of dance music, but for some reason i cannot stand trance music. to me it all sounds the same with some boring melody that just doesn't make me want to get up and start shakin' it. a perfect example is darude's "sandstorm"... i just don't feel it.

some of my recent favorites:
eha "touch me"
cazwell "all over your face"
first choice "ain't he bad (remix)"
dj marcky "viva la france"

Lets not forget those that started electronic sound in popular music, particularly trance (sans the less mainstream Kraftwerk and Art of Noise, Jean M Jarre, et al ) - LaDonna Gaines and Giorgio Moroder - the founders of trance.
