I need to partition my iPod to make a bootable volume out of it so that I can install a new HDD into my Macbook.

If I partition the HDD, will I easily be able to restore its functionality as an iPod? I seem to think that I will be able to, but I haven't found any conclusive answers.

Thanks for any info.

Yes, it should be fine. When I eventually upgrade to a larger iPod, I'll probably restore Leopard to a small partition on it, ensuring I'll always have an installation disk with me.
