Hidden hard drive

I booted from the Leopard CD to run Disk Utility on both my drives. One needed minor volume header repair but that was it.

After rebooting my second drive is hidden. All the aliases and programs work and all the data is there, the icon is just hidden from the desktop. Using Onyx to show hidden items brings it back out but hides it again once the option is deselected.

Any ideas on the problem and how to get it visible again? :)

Really, what do I need to change to make it visible again?

OK, that got me on the right track. I eventually found this site: http://pinkmutant.com/articles/invisible.html

Which lead me to this Terminal command: sudo chflags nohidden /Volumes/"NameOfDrive"
Which solved the problem! :)

I have the same problem, and the linked site fixed it sort of but every time I click my HD it opens the screen and the HD disappears again! :(

No matter what I do:
chflags nohidden /Users/yourshortname
sudo chflags nohidden /Volumes/"NameOfDrive"
sudo chflags nohidden /
They all dont work, and since I tried it a second time this came up:usage: chflags [-R [-H | -L | -P]] flags file ...

Im kinda out of ideas so if anybody could help me? :confused:

Yeah, turns out its a temporary fix. After a restart/logout/finder quit it goes hidden again. :(

I don't know what happened to cause this, unless its a bug in Disk Utility.app

Has anybody tried going to an apple store with this?
And, would reinstalling OSX Leopard help?

Ditto, I don't have the developer package installed since it was conflicting with one of my menu bar apps.

Using a combination of http://pinkmutant.com/articles/invisible.html and deleting the com.apple.finder.plist in your pref folder worked for me :D
I have rebooted twice since, and twice over my HD icon was there waiting for me :P

First delete it, than use the script part in the first half of the article.
