So-so. Some of it's good, most is ridiculous, at least for me. One person's opinion.

Of course I love it, who doesn't? Everyone seems to take thing so seriously these days and doesn't know how to have any fun and lighten up. If you ask me, the first of every month should be a "let your hair down and have fun" day. Days like today inspire fun and creativity, which isn't a bad thing whatsoever.

I usually find it quite funny. The BBC having flying penguin exclusive footage was great!

I heard about this, sounded hysterical. Hopefully I can find it on the internet or youtube or somewhere when I get home...

I voted no.
I usually enjoy a good prank, and I have to admit the greyscale on MR had me for a few seconds, ( was gearing up to call Apple Care ).
But this greyscale thing got old after a couple of minutes. Has passed into visually annoying now.

Obviously you never used a Mac (or any other computer for that matter) before color screens came along - this is how it always used to be back then! :p

Yep, it's only a bit of fun. And I like fun! :D
However, I don't like the ones that go way OTT! (i.e. if a fake policeman went to someones house and told someone that her husband was dead, let her scream and cry for 10 mins or so then say "got you!")

Some are good (for example Google's and previous years ./s (OMG Ponies!)) however it removes the credibility from any real news stories, and the pages are typically not removed and stay in Google's search.
So no, I can't stand it.
UPDATE: Also timezone issues become annoying when you are not yet expecting it but pages are already there.

It doesn't thrill me, but I'm okay with it as long as it doesn't intrude on the normal operations of the site.
Had one experience last year where the site went to extraordinary lengths for the day and rejigged it so it was about something completely different. It was like, okay, you got your funny, now where's the real ******?
For the most part, the humor is hit-or-miss depending on the sense of humor of the site/webmaster. Google is about the only one who regularly has a hit, I think because that's the kind of company they are, their joke plays to their strength, their geekness, and they don't interrupt their normal operations to promote their joke.
Also, agree, timezones can be annoying. Depending on where you are and the sites you visit, you could get almost 2 days of it.

Do I enjoy tasteful celebrations of the April Fools Holiday, yes; however, I do not appreciate some of the stunts inevitably pulled on this faithful day each year.
MacRumors is the perfect example, one every other site should follow in my opinion. They "fool" us each year with a little surprise, but at the same time they don't let it interfere with the normal operations of the site. Google is another prime example: they make a few hilarious (and obviously fake) new announcements, but as for everything else it's business as usual. Also reminds me of the time Taco Bell bought ads across the country claiming they had bought the LIberty Bell ...a classic!
I love April Fool's when done properly. For instance, this year I turned in one of my school papers in Japanese (the real copy was also turned in), and changed one of the forums I run that has a Fantasy/Sci-fi focus into a Hello Kitty forum for the day. It was great fun, and I got a lot of compliments for a well-done joke.

I didn't really enjoy it this year considering my girlfriend wasn't sure if she still liked me or her ex. So I broke it off... then she tells me to go get tested for gonorrhea since one of her previous partners told her he has it. Not sure if she was joking or not but I obviously didn't find that (or the swab I got later) funny at all.:mad::mad:
Back to being single now... yay?

People take April fools way out of context. It is premeditated, and everyone knows that it is coming. It is too easy to spot online and 9 times out of 10 it isn't funny. People may say it is though, but when they log off the internet, it wasn't funny.
You can't "fool" someone when they know it is coming.
I do have to admit though, sometimes some sites put together some funny stuff. Very rare.

I find the whole thing kinda tedious, mostly because some sites don't pull anything, and others go temporarily insane, so I spent the whole day getting aggravated with my feed reader, trying to filter out the chaff.
Can someone explain to me what the point of april fools day is? Because mostly, it's not all that funny.

Back to being single now... yay?If this is an April Fools joke, it isn't funny. The point of April Fools jokes is that they are so incerdibly obviously wrong that you'd have to be "a fool to fall for them". Those jokes are fun, the crank calls about robberies, someone died, etc. are not fun.
Personally I like April Fools, but I do question some of the people's moral borders on what they can, or cannot, do.

I would have voted neutral. Until this year when I saw that YouTube rick roll'd all of the featured videos. I'm neutral about rick roll'ing, it can be abused, but when I read through the comments on the Rick Astley video saying, "What happened? I tried to click on a video of a kitten?" I realized how funny it is to see when "normal" (those not in on internet jokes) people react to things the others (those who are in on internet jokes) see as common.

Not a true Internet joke, except for the Star's web page, but this one sure got a lot of people wagging their tongues.
Funny stuff, if you know that this park is almost guaranteed never to be developed.

It depends.
Mostly I like April Fool's Day joke. Often I'm not aware of today's date, so the "fake" announcements, flying penguins indeed, are really quite funny.
For those of you wondering how it is I don't track, on the date. Well you too will be getting old.:)
But the April Fool's Day stunts that at my expense, I don't like so much.

Could this poll please be replaced? We're fast running out of April. How about "Poll: Do you like May Day on the Internet?" -- that ought to last another month or so, surely?
"Brand new poll every couple of weeks; month, month and a half tops... if the same one is still there in 6 months, please call the police or something..."

Okay, we're now officially in May.
Are we embarrassed about this poll yet?
For the record, Beltane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beltane) on the Internet was, and always is, a blast. And I look forward to us discussing the Festival of Carna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carna) on the Internet in this very thread.
