If a MBP is sitting, unused, for a few months (4-6 months), could there be any damage to the battery?

i believe the apple site has some care instruction if you are storing your computer... i.e. drain it to about half full (or half empty, depending on your perspective).
if you just found a computer in that state, i wouldn't worry too much about it, but charge it up and see what happens. get a battery monitor, istat widget, or coconut battery to see what they say about the 'health'.

as with any rechargeable battery it needs to be cycled to prolong its life. sitting idle since dec. may have degraded it some. if it sits for that long, you should at least remove the battery. if you don't properly condition the battery, then you will end up buying a new one more often than the rest of us. just the way it is.

yeah...charge it up and see what it says. i would leave it charging for a few days and then cycle it. you probably won't notice much difference...if any at all.
