She gets ripped on, but this album is really quite good for a kid. Some of the lyrics are juvenile...but she's a kid. SOme of them are way, way too advanced for someone her age. Her voice is already leaps and bounds beyond many pop singers with twice her experience.
Avril's not bad now, and she's only going to get better.

Honestly, she's talented. It's just that she's in the midst of a bunch of pop crap, targeted at teens. I once dated a girl who looked just like her actually. ;)

Funny you say that - I'm currently seeing a girl who looks just like her. We're even flying up to Alaska to perform in a talent show, with the program saying "Avril Lavigne" instead of her real name. I'm sure we'll fool a lot of people, which really wasn't the point.

Well actually from what I've heard, she's not very talented (at least musically). She doesn't write any of her music, she doesn't play any instrunment, and the singing you hear on Let Go sounds nothing like her real voice due to all of the digital editing they perform. Listen to some of her live recordings and you'll see what I mean ;)
Now I'm not trying to say her music is bad, some of it is actually pretty good in my opinion, but I don't think Avril herself deserves a whole lot of credit.

Not true, she cowrote most if not all of the songs on her most recent album.

She plays guitar, piano and the drums.

I do think her voice is edited in the studio, but hearing live recordings of her from earlier in her career and now, it seems like she's gotten better live.

It's all a matter of opinion, but she does do more than many current "singers" do. She at least got famous because of her music/singing, and is not just an actress or celebrity who they figured would sell well if she did an album.

It's not a bad song, but I prefer Weird Al's parody (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=2322174&i=2322101) of it.

It's from a pretty decent first album, 15 million sales is no mean feat.

Hey, I actually like this song. Seriously. Never said I didn't like the song... both that and Sk8ter Boi has gotten 4 stars in my iTunes library... the rest of Let's Go, on the other hand, isn't too good... and definitively not good enough to sell 15M albums... if it hadn't been for those sheep, I mean... ;)

I like that song, but then i like the Clarkson one too and a bunch of other songs that in ten years time will be lost in the morass.

Awesome song. Fun to sing at karaoke, if you don't mind waiting through the instrumental break.
