iPhone to Projector, would it work?

Alright, so in the keynotes that Apple does, they have a special connector that shows what's on the iPhone on the projectors. Is there and actual hookup? Or is it only a specialized product?

You would think that they would be able to use a standard iPod 30 pin adapter...however there are known iPhone clones, for example, iPhoney (http://www.marketcircle.com/iphoney/)
