I don't know if this has happened to any of you, but I was sitting here using my Macbook air, and as I sat back I looked at the computer and had a....
"wow this computer is truly the best thing I've had in a long time" moment.
has anyone else been marveling at the sight of their MBA?

Yeah I did yesterday...it was after I was saying to myself "this damn thing isn't that much lighter than my 15" MBP (whilst it was sitting on my desk) but then I picked it up to take it to the bedroom and I thought "damn this this is really cool, way lighter!" and the keyboard is so nice, even at awkward angles whist in my bed i can type fine, though I'm trying to not knock the trackpad. Other than that it's great!

No, I meant to add "and then sit down in front of my Macbook Air". The Dell is just so-so, nothing compared to the Mac.

I had one of those moments as I opened my Air in the Air...on a plane. Another guy across the row tried to bust out his 17" HP.....I'm pretty sure he had to reserve the seat beside him to accommodate the big bastard.

The other day we finally had a warm, sunny late afternoon, so I decided to go out on my balcony for a while. In years past taking the laptop out there meant setting up a tablecloth on the table, taking the laptop, the iLap, the mouse, the mouse pad..... This time I simply picked up the MBA, carried it out to the balcony, sat down, made the MBA comfy on my lap, and started typing away....no fuss, no muss. I thought, "wow! This is soooo cool!" Yes, the MBA IS an awesome notebook, a genuine laptop that can actually be used on my lap....

yeah i do. Every single time I took it out of my backpack to take notes in class. It's so light and sturdy and beautiful at the same time. I can't help smiling whenever I look at it.

Every time I'm waiting on a flight and I see someone corporate typing away on their Dell or HP, glancing over lustfully.

I had this experience yesterday.
I've been in bed with the flu. And I have my MBA with me, wife's working.
That's when I realized every time I'm moving, I am carrying the MBA.
Never wanted to that with my PB or MBP, they were just heavy enough for me to pass by.
With the MBA I never think about carrying it with me, I always have it with me.

Funny Post and so true.
The first time I took mine into work a coworker walked in, looked at my MBA and announced "Ooooooh, an Air. SHOWOFF!"

Though I don't have a MacBook Air, I have the same feelings in front of my MacBook Pro, actually; especially considering that I work in the photographic industry and my stupid little MBP blows away all of the thousands of dollars of equipment we use there...
But I had the same feelings with the PowerBook... I guess it's because I have to save up for so long to buy these things that I have such a love affair with them.

When i went to the apple store, picked up the Air and dropped it. Then to pick it back up to see no damage.
Although it went from a OH ***** moment to a This is an awesome notebook, i was impressed

Well, this is my first post and what better thread than this one! I got my MBA last week for my birthday from my other 1/2 and most everytime I pick it up, I have the 'wow' factor. I'm coming from a Dell Inspiron Windows XP and have never owned an Apple before. Now I'm hooked!
I also had an 'awesome' moment when I was carrying into a local Target (didn't want to leave it in the car and was looking for headphones that fit) and I saw some knowing glances as people saw it, and then one guy passed me, then doubled back and said "excuse me, sir? Is that the MacBook Air?" I said yes and then he said "could I hold it?". I felt both proud (why yes you may!) and selfish (no don't touch my baby). LOL!
Anyway, looking forward to participating and asking questions!

Every time I pull the MBA out of my bag, open it and it seems to instantly snap on and then let me surf the internet in less then 2 seconds, I am amazed.
Coming from a Dell ultra-portable with Vista, and waiting for what seemed like ever to boot and find the damn WiFi network was very annoying.
This laptop is, for me, one of the best pieces of tech I have ever owned.

ive noticed that too just with apple computers alone. windows takes for ever to recognize and connect to a wifi network!

Sitting outside using it in bright sunlight and being able to see the screen.

I briefly had the 2.4 17" MBP 1920x1200 for four days that I had the air before the new owner picked up the MBP, and i never turned the MBP on. The Air is a vastly brilliant machine, and to think i was so sceptical at launch. It's the perfect size/weight/speed/heat I'm really happy.
And speaking as someone who detests glossy screens, i love the air's screens. As a poster above said, you can really see it well outside. Partly the brightness, but also because glossy screens reflect light i believe, and matt ones absorb it, and wash out the picture. My 17" mbp was useless in bright sunlight.
The auto backlight adjust works much better than the mbp too, due to where they've positioned the sensor now.
I take delight in going into an electronics retailer here and looking at the laptops at how chunky they are, with creaky weak plastic casing and bits that break off, slide out cd trays, catches on the lid, tiny track pads with horrible plasticy buttons and a skinny scroll area down one side.
And I doin't know why, but the MBA is snappy, it is quick. That 80gb drive is really fast enough. I've done some multitrack recording on it and it handles it (just had 6 tracks playing back whilst recording 8 from a Line 6 UX8 8 way usb2 audio interface into logic. works well.
I have no regrets, i completely don't miss the macbook pro, and if i still had it i'd never use it.
This is an awesome notebook, it's so portable i usually have it with me. it's lessened the amount i use the iphone for web surfing.

I agree with this sentiment.
I should have added that. I was thinking of the 'beauty' of it as a wow factor, but I love the fact that I can be surfing the net, close it, it turns off, I can go run errands, come back and open it up and within a few seconds I'm right back on the internet where I left off. Awesome!!
Heck, even the startup from a complete shutdown is waaaay faster than my Dell Win XP...

I don't have an Air yet, so I can only lust for one now. But remember that scene in Pulp Fiction when John Travolta opens the suitcase and there's this heavenly light that shines on him? I picture the Air having the same effect.

Two nights ago I was sitting in my bed working on my air; lights out (backlit keyboard is awesome), g/f sleeping next to me, and I thought to myself, life is good.

I just got mine in the mail the other day, and brought it to class for the first time on Thursday, and the whole time I was taking notes with it, I kept hearing people talk about it and point it out. I just kept taking copious notes with my MBA while other people admired it. It's funny how much crap people talk about it, until they actually see it and hold it. Don't regret buying mine one bit.

I will never use Winblows again. A perfect example today. I was printing some online tickets to Cuba for a trip that I am taking with my wife on a new printer. Granted, my wife's laptop is a couple of years old and is running XPee but non the less it recognized the printer but wouldnt print. I then used the disc and installed the drivers, still wouldnt work. Brought down my MBA from upstairs, plugged the new printer into my USB and literally 10 seconds later I was printing those tickets :D
Mac rocks, MBA rocks and I dont care what anybody says.....this MBA is the best laptop I have ever used hands down.

ya same thing here when I whip it out at sales presentations...I can't get a word in before everyone's more interested in the damn laptop than they are in my goods! :-]
