Just as the title says, whenever I open the help window, it 'hovers' in the foreground, even if other applications/windows have the focus. Is there a way to prevent it?

Does the Help window have miniature controls? If it does, then this behavior is by design - it's supposed to stay on top so you can read the help while doing whatever it was you summoned Help for.

yep the Help window is a floating window. so is file inspector (command-option-I in Finder), address book panel and inspectors in iWork, Office, Transmission etc.

Thanks. Is this a new feature in Leopard? I don't remember similar behaviour in Tiger (either that, or I haven't used help often there).

yep and it doesnt have a dock icon now. just move the window to the left or right and it will stay like that next time you open it.
