OSX kernel panic on emptying basket

Anyone seen this before?

I just come back from a 2 weeks holiday and I don't believe my eyes.

Since this morning I crash OSX (10.1.4) completely, every time I try to empty the trash.

Start up via reset is normal and everything else works OK.

Any ideas???

i had that same problem very recently.

i would suggest deleting the file via the terminal.

The amazing problem is, that when I delete the files via the terminal (in users/myName/.Trash/...) and I use the rm -f (fileName) command the kernel panics too!!!

wow. my problem wasn't that bad.

what if you try to delete the file in os 9?

try diskfirstaiding...or a fsck on startup..maybe you got some weirdo problem..

its stands for filesystemcheck and to do it, on restart, hold down the command(apple) and S keys so its like restart--apple-s...this boots into single-user mode...then you type "fsck -y" (without the quotes) and it will do the check...when finished, just type "reboot"...

Hi guys,

the way to get rid of my OSX trash without crashing was:

1. get all the stuf out of the OSX trash-basket and put it in your ownmade trashfolder.

2. restart on OS9 (which in my case is on a different HD.

3. move all the deletable items to te OS9 trash and empty it.

4. after OSX restart they have indeed disappeared


So now I'm going to move new stuff to the OSX trash an pray everything works normal again on emptying. Otherwise I'll have to try something else. I hope you never hear from me again in this thread.
