Hello all..

Just wanted to share my store about Apple Care and my iPhone.

A couple of days ago, Sunday, I had my phone charging. Well when I came back to it, I was getting the message "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone". I called Apple on Monday and we went through some troubleshooting. Basically they said I needed to send in my phone. So I had them ship me out a loaner in the mean time so I wouldn't be without a phone.

Tuesday I had my replacement, sent my phone in. Today I received a new phone from Apple. They said the other phone could not be fixed so they sent me a new phone! No hassling, no having to speak to a supervisor. They just did it.

This by far has been one of the best experiences I have had in a long time with any business. Needless to say I am very pleased with the way this turned out.

Just wanted to share!

WOW - I have had several good experiences with applecare - once of a 20GB iPod photo which stopped working, replaced on spot, no Q's asked.

Just curious what phone did they send you? Did you put your iPhones sim in there?

Apple have always been good to me too.

I bought a macbook the day before an upgrade, they held on shipping and shipped me the new model for the very next day, without me even asking, and when it came with a few dead pixels they sent a new one out straight away and made sure I wasn't without a laptop.

It was the 8gig iPhone. I just transferred my sim card to the new iPhone.

I too love apple care, had a powerbook g4 that just seem to want to die. Screen died, logic board, superdive, just about everything went wrong. After 4 repairs, and 6 months of backordered parts they gave me a new computer, but low and behold it was a mac book pro, So yeah, I got a Macbook Pro for the price a paid for a powerbook g4. Got to love apple care.

AppleCare replace my iPhone too. I received it today and it was sent out on Wednesday! I'm very happy! They also told me that damage that occured to my MacBook was not covered by AppleCare and later a supervisor called me and said that they would cover all the costs. I sent it out Tuesday and got it Thursday! I'm simply amazed and happy!

I just got my MBP last month and have a 90 day warranty. Should I wait to buy the Applecare or do the first 3 months come off of it anyway? In other words, do they add the 3 years of coverage to the 90 days or is it 3 years total with/without the 90 days?

Apple gives refurbs. It isn't bad though. They are basically like the new ones. They even come in a cool skinny-er box!

Sarcasm? Can't tell.

Crap, so what you are saying is my brand new one was replaced with one that has already been sent in and repaired? What the hell... Well my original post, of "what a great experience" is now rapidly fading.

Update**

Just got of the phone with apple. Explained to them about the refurb, and how I only had the phone for 2 months and then they send me a refurb phone in replace of my new phone. He asked how I knew it was a refurb, I told him about the skinny box and the 5K serial number.

Long story short, customer service is not in the office on the weekend. He is going to call me back Monday morning. Not holding my breath at this point, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. ( don't want to have to hold my breath for the whole weekend, you know the lack of air etc... lol, on another note finger cramping etc might set in.....) But anyways, I will post back on Monday.

I wouldn't mind so much if my phone was say a year old, but it has literally been only 2 months, and not a full two months at that.

If you read the warranty, in fact the warranty of any Apple products, it states that Apple will replace products/parts with new or refurbished products/parts.

You are correct, I was just hoping since the length of time I have had the phone in connection to the 90day warranty or 1 year warranty, it would warrant a new phone, not a refurbished one.

Just got off the phone and they are not budging, didn't think they would, but at least I still get all my warranty stuff from the time I took over the new refurbished phone.

I am still very pleased with how fast they handled the situation I am just not pleased with the fact they sent a refurbished phone out. But it is working and I have no complaints other then that.

I am still very much happy!!!

My husband's iPhone is not holding a charge anymore. Battery drains down when off. I restored it, etc. to no avail.

What is the best recipe for success here? Calling Apple or running over to my local store? Which method would better afford the best outcome here? (best outcome being a new phone)

A lot of people prefer refurbs as they have been more throughly tested than new ones (to ensure they behave just as new ones would)

Not an iPhone but I just wanted to add my two cents...

Approximately 2 weeks before the 3 years on my AC for my PB G4 ended, the hard drive failed (second time over the life of the computer, not really sure what's up with that). Called, sent it in, got it back. I noticed it was a little faster than before so I checked the specs. They had maxed out the RAM (doubled to 2 GB), installed a 120GB HD (over the previous 100GB), and given me a brand new battery (even though they had replaced it previously for the battery turn-in). Well worth the 239$ I payed three years prior.

How long have you had the phone? Good luck trying to get a new phone. You will probably have to pay for the new battery. Unless you have had the phone for like a week or something.

This past weekend my wifi just stopped working... it would bounce back and forth from edge to wifi. Called Apple care and got transfered to tier 2 of tech support. Spent maybe 20 minutes troubleshooting it with me. She then made notes in my account to get a brand new phone from my local Apple store. This was nice, she even set my appointment up. Walked in and got a brand new phone and left. I get home and notice dead pixels! The lady from customer care called me back later that day to see if my wifi was working on the new phone and it was and I mentioned the dead pixels which I was going to live with and she said one dead pixel is too many. She is sending me a brand new 16gb iPhone to upgrade my 8gb with dead pixels. I was shocked. Safe to say I am keeping her extension number if any other problems arise with future Apple hardware. Made me a Apple fan for life.

What does your serial number start with on your new phone if you don't mind me asking? Is is the 5k series?

What is the serial number of your new phone if you don't mind me asking?

Did you really just ask that? He's not gonna give you his personal serial number.

fixed original post..... Whoops, that came out wrong, no I don't want his serial number.

Sorry for the confusion.
