I just bought a MyBook Western Digital 750 GB / USB 2.0 External Harddrive,
and wanted to know if i could remove the plastic casing and stick it in
a Drobo or any other RAID casing that has room for 3.5 internal drives..?
Does it matter if it is a IDE or SATA II ?
from what i understand they both have the same connection....?
but might be different transfer speeds....?

IDE & SATA are NOT the same connection!
This is an IDE connector;

This is a SATA connector;

The two are not at all compatible (unless you use an adaptor card, but those can't be used in enslocures).
The drives in external enclosures are exactly the same as the drives you put in RAID encolsures like Drobo, Thecus, etc. As long as the disk has the right connection, you shouldn't have any problems. Of course, you'll void the warranty on the drive when you remove it from it's original casing, so you have to think whether you really want to do this.

Just a pithy answer from me...
Your WD drive will work in the DROBO. :)
