In Windows XP, when I open say an Excel doc and go File > Save As, it automatically opens the save window in the same location as the file that was opened. In Leopard, it opens the finder at the place where it was last so I have to browse to the folder that contained the file I opened. Is there a way to change this default behaviour so that it acts Windows style? I find it very frustrating.

Thanks

At least for Excel, this can be changed in the app.

Excel>Preferences>General>Default File Location>Select

I see what you're saying but what I would like is for the default behaviour across the OS to be that the default save location for a given file when I hit "Save As..." is the same folder in which the file originates. Is this possible?

I'm running Leopard.

Cheers
