At 15 years for 8 people, Sabine Hilschenz (http://www.thelocal.de/11149/20080407/) received an average of less than 2 years for each manslaughter conviction. Even the conviction makes no sense to me. She clearly, premeditatedly, placed them in a situation where they would die.

What she did seems vile, but it does beg the question: will locking her up solve anything?

Sad story, but I must add that the graphic on that page that links to a story about a nude flight is exactly the reason why European media is 100 times better than the crap we have here :D

Wow. The question the story doesn't answer is not just how did this happen once but eight times? The husband...nobody noticed anything?
I agree that the amount of time in jail is irrelevant. Her life is now her life, it's not a great life to have at this point, the crimes she committed are the most punishment she'll receive. She needs help coping now with the rest of her life.
