Does anyone else consistently experience a black screen and 'nothing' when they request a restart from XP side of a boocamped machine, but not the OSX side?

I have BootCamp XP Pro on my late 2008 MBP and have no problems at all with it. Restarting from XP and OS X always work for me. Can you be more specific about the black screen you experience? When does it happen? i.e. when it's shutting down or when it's booting back up?
Mean while, have you installed the latest BootCamp drivers for XP?

Basically:
1) When i am working in OSX, i can restart the mac and exercise all options. I get the bong!, the apple logo and can log back into OSX, or press/hold alt key and chooose XP
2) When i am using XP, no matter which OS i choose to restart in, after the bong, i get a black screen, no options, and fans running very high. Then i have to press the power-off button on the mac, which instantly switches it off. Switch on again, and i can exercise all options..
Hope that better explains the issue.
Also, where would i get the latest bootcamp drivers specifically?

Has this been solved for you? On my late 2008 MBP unibody 2.53Ghz, I got the same problem. The XP/bootcamp side goes to a black screen. It is not a windows issue as even booting the install XP cd goes to black screen instantly. It seems only OSX and osx BOOT disks work.
So even if I remove the apple hard drive and boot of the XP install cd, still blank screen. But if I have osx in, it boots fine.
Windows XP does boot up though but it has a blank screen though. Even keyboard light or sound does not work either.
This is a strange issue, which renders any chance of installing XP/VISTA or linux or any other non OSX os to impossible.
Hope you found a fix for your issue that can help me..

Hi essence25,
Nothing yet, and to be honest i got so tired of it i ended up installing XP into Parallels so i could just operate without issues.. Nobody seemed to be experiencing this issue.
Since Snow Leopard is out though, i'm now taking my MBPro in for a service (just to make sure everything is nice and good :), then i'll get the HDD upgraded to a 320GB @ 7200RPM (16MB cache), then get a copy of Snow Leopard @ £25, and try again. If it doesn't work properly i'll sell the serviced, upgraded laptop and start again under unibody guise..

I have had this problem. To fix this glitch you have to do a hardware reset. Upon bootup, (when you hear the bong) hold down alt+cmd+p+r
That should fix the issue.
