Economics,

Mac users don't have the buying power and hence don't get the best product avaliable.

That's why you can't buy a Radoen 9800XT for mac, and no 3rd party manufactures build cards for mac eg, Gigabyte, Tyan, MSI, Power colour and Hercules. (there may be a few more 3rd party players)

Huh? Manito, I love you man!
I have a 9600Pro in my G5 installed right now. They do have it out and apple installs it, but for some reason they don't sell it in retail stores. Something's cooking with that card, and since my second monitor acts up again (read below link), I start to believe more and more into that card was a rushed joke. (Atleast it explains the price difference 9600/9800 for mac)

The R9600 is Ati's firts 130nm chip, the R9800 is still on a 150nm die. I was looking into getting a Tachyon G9600 PRO from Tyan, maybe I'll think twice.

can't wait to see how the Tyan R9800XT will preform when it is released.
