Any suggestions on whether a CPU upgrade will operate best in a 100MHz bus speed Gigabit Ethernet G4 Tower with 2GB RAM or a 133MHz bus speed Quicksilver G4 Tower with 1.5GB RAM?

Have the choice of two machines to upgrade, which would be fastest with a Mercury Extreme 1.4GHz upgrade?

Please no suggestions buy a newer Mac as (a) can't afford and (b) used prices here in Australia are unbelievable with resellers asking over $1,000 for a 1.25DP MDD.

A single CPU is fastest for OS 9, but OS X really does work well with DP upgrades if the machine has a Northbridge new enough to handle them. Even if you have to take a MHz hit.

If the 133MHz machine is the AGP model, that might be the one to upgrade.

I put a dual 1.3 ghz processor into my AGP Sawtooth. even with a 100 MHz FSB it really flies with Leopard.

I would definitely recommend going dual.
