Hi everyone!
After a year of loving care, I've decided to get a 1GHz 12" AlBook instead (in fact, I just ordered it from Apple).
This means I must sell my beloved 15" TiBook.
First, some history: This thing's been pampered. It's a Rev. B, purchased new in November 2002, just before I came to Arecibo with SETI (where I am currently, with the TiBook). It's been my primary notebook for almost a year, and replaced a Rev. A 15" I'd bought back in June 2002, to celebrate my new job with SETI.
When it travels, it travels in a padded sleeve, in my backpack, which is carried on my person everywhere.
The screen is pristine (no dead pixels). The paint is pristine (no chipping/bubbling/flaking), except for about 5 small bubbles (no chips) on the outside of the hinge that my wife pointed out to me last week, just before I left home to come back to Arecibo Nat'l Observatory.
Specs: 15", 1GHz G4 Titanium Powerbook (256K L2 cache, 1MB L3 cache). 1GB RAM. 60GB HD (Fujitsu MHS2060AT). Superdrive (w/upgraded firmware that increases read/write speed).
Extras: Well, there's the upgraded firmware on the superdrive I just mentioned. There's also:
Airport internal card.
The keyboard. The dark keycaps have all been swapped for the white keycaps from an iBook. Looks stunning! (original keyboard included as well).
The suede wrist-rest. I always put these on my powerbooks (or at least the two TiBooks I've owned). They're grey ultrasuede, and protect the palm rest areas and trackpad button. Never used without them.
Two power supplies.
A Willow Design purple stiff-sided carrying case.
An airline power adapter.
A TiTote carrying handle, never attached, still in box. I used one on my previous TiBook, and bought this one thinking I'd install it, but never did.
An extra battery.
A Unibrain Fire-i firewire webcam (I've verified that it works with iChat; it has a built-in microphone as well, and is designed to clip onto the notebook lid, much like the iSight. Not as sexy, but gets the job done!)
A Belkin USB bluetooth adapter, 100m range (it's got a little extendable antenna on it).
2 years remaining on AppleCare.
Original box and packaging for TiBook, including DVI->VGA adapter, and original CDs shipped with TiBook.
There's also an ultrasuede screen protector (which is just a loose, thin sheet), as well as a sleeve of similar fabric that slides snugly over the screen and lid, like a glove. I forget who makes these.
I can ship it with Jaguar installed and upgraded to the latest rev (and you'd get Jaguar on CD, as it comes with the TiBook), or I can install Panther (though I wouldn't be able to ship you the disks). Your choice.
Why, you ask? Like I said, I just ordered a 12". Its size meets my needs better, and I don't need the extra power or real estate the 15" offers. Besides, I've been lusting after an AlBook since they were released. ;)
As for the accessories, I'm keeping my third power supply, my iSight, my iPod, my 120GB firewire drive, etc. So I'm not leaving myself empty-handed. This is all redundant equipment at this point.
I'd be willing to part with it all for $1750.
Terms: I'll use the same terms I use on eBay: I accept payment up-front via PayPal, from a verified account and shipping to a verified address. When the money's in my account, I'll ship. No checks, no COD, no money orders, no Western Union or similar.
I'll eat the shipping cost via FedEx, insured. This, of course, means NO P.O. Boxes. It also pretty much limits shipment to North America, unless you're willing to go in on shipping/VAT/etc. with me; shipping transoceanic is expensive (and, post-PATRIOT Act, a bit of a hassle!)
I also insist we talk a bit before we finalize the transaction. You're not going to be an anonymous email address that deposits money into an account and gets a box. This works out well for both of us: I find out who you are, you find out who I am.
I'm willing to use an escrow service, if you're willing to pay half the cost of the escrow.
I reserve the right to refuse your payment if something doesn't feel right about the deal.
Why should you trust me any more than I'm trusting you? You really have no reason to. All I can do is point you to my feedback on eBay (where I've been a registered user since at least 1998, and have been getting feedback since early 1999). The account name is "ebay (at) dotatdot (dot) org" (convert that to a valid email address, and you'll have the account name. I wrote it that way to minimize spamming).
I'm also the Sr. Unix Admin for the SETI Institute, http://www.seti.org.
If you're interested, contact me here or via the address that ebay account translates into.
Why am I posting it for sale here? Well, it's currently a bit after midnight in Puerto Rico, and I don't have access to all the accessories I'd want to take pictures of to post the item for sale on eBay; they're at home, in California, and I'm 4,000 miles away right now. If you're interested, let's talk. I can't ship until I'm back home, which isn't until the week of Thanksgiving. So we've got plenty of time to finalize the deal. I'm in no rush.
If nothing pans out here, I'll eBay it when I get home to California.
I hope this turns someone's head, and that it gets a loving home. It's been very good to me this past year, and it deserves an owner that's going to take care of it.
