Still on Jaguar....

BTW does this mean that there will be no more security updates to jaguar?

Still not 100% with Panther yet. Hopefully X.3.2 takes care of some of that. I am unimpressed with most of the new toys that have been added in 10.3 with out total functionality. A clean install should not hand out too many bugs. Still is faster than 10.2, for the most part

My copy of Panther hasn't arrived yet :(

My floating clock now retains it's translucency setting through restarts and logouts.

I haven't noticed a huge difference - I did get about 15 minutes more battery life than I did with 10.3.0, but that could easily be attributed to something else. But yeah, I'm perfectly happy with it.

Haven't noticed a significant change for better or worse.

Where was the option:
"ummm... it's an incrimental bug fix, why are we polling on it???"

;)

Didn't fix what was broken:mad:

Didn't break anything else:)

For now, I remain unimpressed with Panther. Nice toys and nice usability improvements, but Jaguar was more stable and solid.

Hope Apple fixes all the issues soon

I would install it... if Apple would send me the G4 iBook I ordered... :( I'm Mac-less until then! AHHHHHHHHHH!

Somebody... quick! Post a screen shot to bring me back to normality! Even if just for a faint moment.

My boot time is 3 seconds quicker in general but I noticed no fixes or problems with the update. I don't use a FW 800 drive nor do I use File Vault, so I am not sure if any of the fixes pertain to me, anyway, besides whatever "security fixes" they did with .1

Security fixes are most likely going to be more often now... as Apple has better ties with the open source community. It took a few years for them to become comfortable with each other, but things seem to be rather good at the moment.

As to 10.3.1 I did not notice any differences (no FW devices or FileVault usage).

On a side note... I really like the new and improved interface for DVDPlayer! Popped in a movie last night, and was very pleased too see real DVD player info being displayed on the GUI. :D

I've only installed Panther on a small, external firewire drive to see how it works. So far it's ok, but I'm VERY skeptical to install it on any of my main drives yet. I'm still waiting to see the data loss issues resolved before doing so.

I voted no. However It was a mistake. I forgot that I had actually did the update last night. It was quick and painless. I have noticed nothing better or worse. If I could only go back in time and vote again... vote again... vote again... vote again...

I've had a few weird things happen with Panther, none of which I've read about anywhere therefore I doubt this update fixed things are probably only happening in my head ;) But all in all, I'm very content with Panther as a whole. It feels more complete to me than Jaguar and I greatly appreciate the speedbump on my 12" PB 867. Boot time seems twice as fast.

Isn't it a little early to judge 10.3.1? I've only had it installed a few hours, and a lot of people may not even know about it yet, since it was released less than 24 hours ago.

I personally don't use Mac OS X. Won't know about the update until after my wife visits the Apple Store today to resolve her wireless issue.

Have you tried repairing permissions. 10.3.1 should have not changed anything to do with performance. 10.3 itself starts up in nearly half the time of 10.2 and logs in almost instantaneous for nearly all users.

Who are the 11 people who voted "worse" and the 18 people who voted "Major Problems"?

What problems are people having?

It just goes to show you that for any update there will always be idiots who will freak out over it and call it the worst update ever.

I installed it, either the update or the resetting the PRAM right before fixed iTunes. Kinda smacked it around and said "Behave!". iTunes got what it deserved, freezing up on me, why I oughtta  !!
