Newegg RMA is very good, so just in case the memory breaks, it's easier to deal with Newegg considering the price is the same.

- KTA-MB667K2/4GR is an opened box (Returned Memory) / KTA-MB667K2/4G is brand new -

I'll pay $5 more for brand new from the manufacturer

No it isn't. Stop spewing things like that without any proof. Newegg doesn't sell open box items as retail, they sell them as open box. The picture is retail packaging, the description is retail packaging - you're getting retail packaging.

I called Newegg and was told that KTA-MB667K2/4G(R) was opened or returned items.

Thats why the price is less than KTA-MB667K2/4G

@dcl, I bought and installed the RAM from newegg a month ago. It was brand new sealed in package. If you do a little research, the "R" denotes "Retail" as in Retail Packaging. If you go to Office Depot brick and mortar, you'll see this exact product and packaging priced a lot higher.

@ruinfx, the Kingston VR line isn't the same technically. It didn't go through the Apple Mac testing or something. If you look at newegg reviews, the Kingston VRs have some problems with Macs.

i read the reviews at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...g=-1&PurchaseMark=&VideoOnlyMark=False&Page=1 and the rating was 100% with a few people saying they used it in their macs. oh well, its up to you whether you want to pay the extra money for the "mac approval" that is probably bs anyway.
