Fisheye lens and photoshop fisheye plugin.

Google "tiny planets" you'll see some blogs with photo's similar.

You could try and fake it with some warping and cloneing, but I'd go for the real thing (fish eye lens).

Yah some of the sites I visited talked about using a fisheye lens, taking multiple shots, then it merges them to form "tiny planets" almost similar to the panoramic software that you can find that melds multiple shots.

Interesting art to say the least, very sureal.
