Using GMail with Mail application, All my archived mail is in inbox

I set up my GMail account with the Mail application in OS X. But all of my email I archive, and it's showing up in my inbox on the mail application. Why is this? How do I fix it so my archived mail goes out of my inbox, and my inbox is only for new mail.THanks.

UI had the same problem.

make sure that you do not have it set up as POP mail and use the IMAP setting. That should fix matters.
