I've got an iBook G4 running OS 10.4 which currently does not contain an OS 9 system folder. How would I go about setting up classic? Would I need a retail copy of OS 9.1 or 9.2.1 (unfortunately, I only have a retail copy of OS 9.0)? Thanks.

My wife has classic mode setup on here G4 PowerMac because she has a lot of legacy graphic design applications she must run. If I remember correctly we installed her version of OS 9.1 over Tiger 10.4.5 and then upgraded to 9.2.2 when she first got her new PowerMac.

Have you tried downloading the updates to take you from 9.0 to 9.2.2?

This wikipedia site has links to the various OS 9 upgrades.

Do you have another mac currently setup for running classic?

If so just copy the system folder over and your iBook should detect it 🙂
